What started as a leisurely hike to take some photos turned into a challenge, both mentally and physically. I pushed myself. It was the longest hike I’ve done in the past couple years, at 12.51 miles and 1592 ft of elevation gain.
Most of the hike wasn’t necessarily difficult, it was the sustained effort for hours. The aches of every step after 4 hours of hiking. It was knowing that every step I took out meant I needed to take that same step back in order to finish.
I thought to myself, is it worth it? What’s my goal here? Do I really need to push myself this time? Why don’t I pick another hike to push myself on?
But I kept moving…
What started as a leisurely hike turned into something different. It became a building block for my own physical achievements. It turned into a piece of evidence I can use to prove that I can achieve more.
