Metrics From The Week

Some thoughts on these this week down below.
Snaps From The Week

Went back to the public library here! The view was just as good as I remembered (The Week I Road Tripped To California, March 19th, 2023)
Also went to Spitz Mediterranean Street Food (in Park City). My last memory was this story This Is Exactly Why I Stopped Eating (So Much) Meat | DailyV 343 (YouTube video) and “Downtown Metro Day” from The Week That Saved My Ski Season (March 5th, 2023) 😂
It was just as good as I remembered. And did get a bit lethargic but it was for dinner and I was exhausted so I didn’t care as much this time lol.
The Storm ⛷️
Finally another big storm!

I skipped the first day (Tuesday), it was about 4″ reported.
The second day (Wednesday) they reported 12″ and I went up to Park City to ski.
My first two runs in particular were absolutely unbelievable, off of Silverlode. Deep powder turns, pillowing up to my knees, some face shots. Crazy good.
But it was COLD. The wind was like 20mph with gusts up to 35mph, just continuing to whip and dump more snow.
I called it after a quick lunch, since it looked like they wouldn’t open McConkeys or Jupiter (up high) and it was quite cold.
It just kept dumping all afternoon and into the evening.
The Parking Lot Adventure…
This story actually starts that morning of (Wednesday), before skiing. I got to the parking lot in the morning, which wasn’t plowed yet, just had some tire tracks. It’s on a very slight angle as well.
More useful context: My van is two-wheel drive (rear) but has snow tires on (“snow/mud,” not “all weather”).
I tried backing up into the top row, but my tires started slipping, so I said screw it and drove down the the lower rows.
I stopped in the second to last row, though all the other middle rows had no cars yet. My van was perfectly aligned but there was just a bit of extra space between my van and the car next to me, so I thought “ah let me tighten that up a bit”
So I pulled forward a bit, put it in reverse…
And my tires started slipping.
“Oof, okay,” so put it back in drive to get a bit lower and get more momentum.
Put it back in reverse… Tires started slipping again.
At this point I’m not in the middle of the pass-through lane between the spaces… And I can’t reverse back into the spot.
So I look forward and just drive forward to the space right in front of me.

My heart was beating (I literally hate this feeling) but I’m like it’s 7:30am, I’ll deal with this later 😂
So anyways, back to post ski day…
I’m walking back up to the lot and my van thinking “they’re plow the lot at some point throughout the day, so it’ll be easier to get out after skiing”…
They did not plow the lot 😂
And furthermore, as I’m walking up to my van I see at the top of the lot, a sedan, tires spinning, with two guys behind it pushing him… And another sedan mid-lot stuck, with the guy outside his car waving at the pickup truck with a plow driving by.
I’m like “oh boy” 😂😂
I throw my skis in my van and just chill for a bit. I would deal with getting out later… Perks of living in a van. So I just changed, got warm again, ate, and hung out for a bit.
Then finally decided to venture out and see how I’d get out of there.
There was about 12-18″ of snow in the lot where there weren’t tire tracks already.
Having already spun in the morning, I wasn’t as confident in my tires, but then I remembered I had chains, so I put those on.

With the chains I was pretty confident I’d make it out.
I started reversing, got some momentum backing up, made it about 5 feet before stopping and starting to spin.
I went back forward into the spot and tried again, but more spinning.
Confused… I tried to figure out my plan out of here…
The Honda CR-V parked to the left of me leaves… He just casually reverses back through the snow, puts it in drive, and drives away.
I’m sitting there like “bro wtf 😂😂😂😂😂” (must’ve had all-wheel-drive).
A group of guys a couple cars down asked if I needed help. I wasn’t even sure how they’d help as I hadn’t even figure out my options.
I kind of shimmied my way more horizontal, then took out my traction boards and did the same “head start” strat.
I made it this far 😂 which is about 2/3 back into the “driving lane” of this row
Context: My tires are about 30″ tall.

Then threw the traction boards in front, and drove forward, half-through the parking spot I was in and back into the driving lane.
I spun one more time, threw the boards under one more time, and that was what I finally needed.
Once I got into the driving lane, I just kept on the gas, my tires were spinning a bit, but it was enough traction to get me forward, up the slight incline, and back onto the road.
Success… Let’s not do that again 😅
The next morning I parked in the other lot that was a little more flat.
That lot was also still not plowed. I’m like “what’s going on here” 😂 But at this point I still had my chains on, so I got in fine.
As I was leaving that morning to go ski (~8am), the big wheel loader vehicle came to plow out that lot… finally lol. I think the town was just a lot more concerned with keeping up with the roads, which weren’t in the best shape either due to how much snow there was.

Day 2 at Park City

This day was incredible. They reported 16″. Started out with light clouds, blue sky, no wind, not too cold.
They were avalanche blasting a lot, and took a bit longer to open the main Crescent lift that I waited in.
But once they did… oh my.
I skied off Silverlode and Motherlode to start. I was a bit later than the first day, so lot of the main runs weren’t completely untracked, but still had some crazy good runs.
Then did some exploring and found this unexpected untracked run at like 10am in plain sight.
And it was completely untracked in the trees, which were spaced out perfectly, which I like. I don’t like the tight trees.
I started using my GoPro, holding it in my mouth lol. I recorded in 2.7K 60fps but brought down to 1080p to save some storage space here:
Took a lunch break to warm up. That’s when they opened McConkeys, skied that (but was too late, long line, already tracked up), it was okay. Then saw they opened Jupiter which I had been waiting for…
There was a massive line there. Waited maybe 20-30 minutes in the lift line.
I got two runs in… And both times just went straight to this line I skied last week and spotted from the lift that I saw still mostly untracked.
And oh my god…
That first run.
Might’ve just been the best run of my entire life.
Thankfully I caught it on my GoPro.
Almost fully untracked, deep, super soft, face shots. Bro it was insane.
I love skiing.
DON’T STEAL MY SPOT SHHHHH. Everyone goes out to the far open part of the west face first.
I skied this line twice and was like “yep I can die satisfied now” and called it a day.
And didn’t have any issues getting out of the parking lot this time. Nice.
Unbelievable day.
Business-Wise
Got two YouTube videos out this week.
I’ve been trying to lean-out my process to post more and so far so good!
On the reels side of things, things have slowed down a bit, but I got a handful out and some that were just clips from my videos. I find those clips don’t do as well as dedicated videos recorded for reels, but I figure it’s better than nothing.
Thoughts From The Week
No-Input Meals
I’ve long had a habit of watching YouTube videos or being on my phone while eating meals.
Some weeks ago I was chatting with AI inside my Obsidian second-brain and it gave the idea to try no-input meals. Not even reading while eating, or doing light work while eating… Zero. Just eat.
I tried it a couple times, found it a bit refreshing, then fell back into the habit of watching videos and being on my phone.
But it feels like something has fundamentally shifted in the last 2 weeks. Ever since I had that journal session and realization last week, that “Rubber Banding,” I’ve been feeling different. I’ve been doing no-input meals almost every day. And my YouTube/Instagram use has gone way down lately.
I really think there’s something behind this idea of asking yourself “what do I need to feel right now?” and leaning into that honestly. I feel like I value silence more in my life, it’s interesting. And this is coming at the level of a value or belief, not just excitement to try something new.
So anyways, I consistently am feeling more refreshed after doing this. It’s amazing (er not really) what difference it makes to actually give your brain a break instead of a “break” of stimulation through videos and scrolling reels.

Morning.
Back down in Salt Lake today after two unbelievable days up at Park City. Something like 31" reported over 2-3 days.
Bro yesterday at Jupiter I think I had the best run of my entire life. AND I captured it on my GoPro. Unbelievable turns... Unbelievable.
I love skiing.
Although it's been a somewhat dry winter here. I'm glad I came back and did this van life skiing chapter. I'm just grateful for this life experience. I _am_ looking forward to going back to Bali, but I dunno, you'll never know the alternative.
The flow of skiing is just unmatched, especially on a powder day.
So anyways, super grateful for that storm that rolled through. Now I'm back on the grind. I've got a call tonight [...]
So we got that to look forward to.
Things are going well.
[...]
So I'm feeling a little bit of that feeling of other people around me doing better than me. I'm happy for [name], 100%, but I've noticed this particular feeling before... When I see people start something new around the same time as me, then do "better" than me, it feels a little demotivating. This happened with [name] in Bali. I did one of her free breath work sessions as she was just getting some reps in. Then over the next couple weeks she launched a program, had like 9 clients, and I was still basically just searching for my target client that fit well for me, had no idea what I was doing.
It's this feeling of... similar to the "I'm not doing/working enough feeling" combined with this like "what am I doing wrong that they're doing right" type of thing.
But at the end of the day, we're each on our own journey here.
[...]
And it's this feeling that gets me excited to read these new books I've added to my book board around emotional integration and deeper rooted emotional issues. I'm like ohkay here we go this is where I can level up. But then again, I've got to actually prioritize reading more or else I'm never gonna get to these...
[...]
What else am I _feeling_? I like this idea of finding and naming these deeper patterns inside me?

Anything else coming up recently?
- It's not _all_ bad. My youtube videos have been getting between 20 and 60 views, two "outperformers" at 115 and 200 views. I posted to my story the other day a clip of all the views, and expressed my gratitude for everyone watching. And I meant it. Every number is a person, a person with a story, and some of those mere numbers I've had the privilege of connecting with... [names]... And the resonance and feedback I've gotten from them, saying they love my videos and wish I posted more. I just had this thought the other day that was like ya know, I don't need thousands of followers and thousands of views... I just want to make an impact in the lives of people, and I'm doing it right now. So what looks like "ugh bro I'm not getting very many views on my videos, the yt algorithm isn't picking them up, I'm not making good videos..." is actually... there are real people that are resonating with my videos. Even 10 views is 10 people who are continuing to watch my videos and deeply resonating with what I'm talking about... And _that_ is meaningful. _That_ is success already.
- Like even my last video.. It's at 8 views right now 2 days after posting, maybe 2 of those are me. An _absolute flop._ But [name] messaged me yesterday responding to my story sharing the video link and goes "love this bespoke approach."
Anyways... gonna jump to some youtube video brainstorming. Want to get a video out for tomorrow morning.
What’s Next?
Looking kinda dry. Back to locking in.
