Snaps From The Week

Biz

Some good coaching calls this week. My most ideal client happens to be getting the best results which feels amazing. He had a big realization this week, realizing that he hesitated asking for testimonials specifically because of the fear of churn awareness that we worked on, then did it anyways and it went better than he expected.

Then digging into his resistance towards cold calling, and he goes “Peter… you’re already done so much… if you can solve cold calling for me…” and like smiles and nods his head in excitement.

In other news, still making reels. This week started making some more top of funnel style reels, copying some other people. 1 was okay, 2 were meh, and the one that I spent maybe half a day on did horribly bad 😂 So… uh… nice 😅

Also got back on YouTube this week after a ~2 ish week break from posting and like ~3 ish weeks from more intention videos.

The last week or two I’ve been slowly setting up and building these AI agent content miners and WOW they’ve been good. Basically going back through my notes, call transcripts, journal entries, etc. and looking for quotes, hooks, ideas, frameworks, stories, etc. It’s been crazy.

But it’s also been interesting working on these, because I almost feel like emotionally burned by building and building and building instead of doing the thing I know I need to do to move the biz forward (something I’m now targeting in my icp). So I’ve been kind of like ideating, then building a bit, running it, using it, then writing down notes of what I want to fix/improve, then coming back a week later for another session to improve it. I think it’s been going much better than my past self’s mindset would’ve handled this lol.

As for what’s next, I’m putting together an online workshop to run. Definitely some of my own resistance here… what if no one shows up, what if it’s not good enough, what if no one wants to go deeper, etc. So that’s been fun basically to feel again what my clients feel and what I’m coaching on.

Pushing

I’ve sort of stopped tracking my work hours as granularly as I used to, but I’ve been working a lot lately. On one hand it’s been this feeling of being perpetually behind, so many things to do, everything takes longer than expected… having a handful of messages in my notifications that I just don’t get to until the evening or like this week, started pushing off by multiple days…

But on the other side it’s kind of felt nice. I don’t know what the right word is.. maybe it’s more like meaningful, purposeful, fulfilling. It’s felt good to actually push myself, to be clear on the vision, making progress, seeing progress, and actually serving.

Man it’s crazy this life has been a dream for so long, and while I’m grateful every day (for other things), I don’t stop that often to really sit and think about this…

One night, I think it was Friday, it was like 7pm, still working, ate dinner, posting reels/stories while eating, then decided to just go to Nirvana to do stairmaster and walk on the treadmill. I had basically been sitting all day. Was proud of that for just showing up to do the bare minimum.

But it’s like, I know what’s down this path… you do this enough, sitting all day, skipping workouts, walking/exercising… then you get to that whole excuse “I don’t have enough energy to exercise” and it’s like bro… you don’t have energy because you’re not exercising… 😂

So I’m trying to avoid that. I’ve been skipping workouts more often. Steps are very very hard to get in here in Bali, so basically all my exercising happens at the gym, or maybe an infrequent beach walk.

Just doing my best to maintain and keep showing up when I can.

Social

Was invited by a friend to this new community brunch and it was fun! Saw and met a lot of people from Nirvana, had some good conversation and actually took away some good insights, reflecting on the week and looking forward.

Thoughts From The Week

202608252146 What's your ideal version of you doing
#journal

Quick thought that I'm just going to kind of voice note and dump here

There was some thought of what's my competition doing or what's my ideal version of myself doing in this moment

I think it was when I was eating dinner and watching a little bit of YouTube for like I don't even know 15 minutes 20 minutes. And I just thought what's the ideal version of myself like what's the killer version of me doing right now?

And I thought that was an interesting reframe

And it also kind of relates to this other idea that I've been having about sacrifice

[[202608252147 Sacrifice means losing something you desire]]
202608252147 Sacrifice means losing something you desire

#journal

Sacrifice means losing something you desire

It literally means giving up something that you want to do

And this sounds so obvious

But when you're on the inside living your life, I think it's less obvious until it's made clear

That sacrifice is not responding to messages, not responding to women, choosing to prioritize your sleep instead of going on a date or sleeping with a girl...

And I think the point I want to make here is... All of these things... You WANT TO DO... THATS THE WHOLE POINT.

So it's like when you sacrifice something, it is by design that you are not doing something that you want to do.

And again, it feels so obvious to write, but I think it's one of those things where you have to reread it to really understand it

202608300800 Morning journaling
#journal

Wassup selamat pagi.

Made it to Sunday.

Want to journal this morning, then maybe head to Nirvana, morning-ish workout if I can get Weekly Review + Life Update done quickly.

Then just chill the whole afternoon, maybe massage, sauna, chill, read.

Last two days have been kinda packed, working a ton, think one day was 8hrs time behind laptop, other was like 11hrs, that's not including [name]'s community brunch, posting to Instagram during dinner, etc.

Been pushing hard lately. But honestly super proud of yesterday. I recorded the yt video, then I was like eh I could edit this later, but I just was like nah let's just fucking go and do it now. I went from start to published in like 62 minutes or something. That was a good indicator and data point for me. Doesn't need to be long/complicated.

But didn't workout yesterday, no even go to the gym for stairmaster + walk.

There's a particular feeling in here though, that I like... it's something like pushing myself, seeing what I'm capable of... and that feels good. It just feels good to push, be exhausted, tired, brain fried. Obviously not "good" in the moment, but what's the word here... like... meaningful, fulfilling, purposeful.

For years... it's been working up until I feel tired, kinda of macro-scattered, just showing up, doing what I can.

And the past like 6 weeks have been the most focused I've been AND gotten the most results I've ever gotten in 4 years... $X cash collected, another $X owed (we'll see, [name] might drop I'm kind of expecting that tbh...). But it feels good.

But there's also been a little bit of a creeping feeling of like... sooooo what's next? Gotta make more money, how ya gonna do that? A little bit of the treadmill feeling, but at least there's some excitement and novelty putting together this workshop.

Yesterday's brunch showed me that the workshop is ready, I'm ready, at the very least to pick a date. I put together last year's workshop in like 2 days. So stop needing to feel ready, making slides, going over the script, you can do that yes, but start promoting it first.

Content has been kinda shit lately. [name] has been liking my content and videos, but man views have been shit. I'm getting like 100-250 views, maybe a "good one" gets up to 400-500. Something has to change here...

And like idk, posted this reel yesterday to promote the youtube video, watch time is 11s, 54% skip rate, 2 profile visits, like that's not bad... 212 views... I'm like hmmm

And the top of funnel b-roll reel I put together [[202608280828 Post - Top of funnel reels]]... spent hours on, collecting all that b-roll... 109 views, 5.8s watch time, absolutely disgustingly bad hahahah fuck. Just discouraging. But now watching it back I'm like ehhh yeah I see why, first like 2-3s are not a good hook.

Just need to keep going, keep trying stuff. The only way to lose is to quit.

What else?

Was checking my Whoop this morning. Finally got some decent sleep last night. Woke up 3? times to record dreams. That's been fun but I'm also like now I just keep waking up whereas I used to sleep the entire night... so not sure about that.

But whoop pace of aging and whoop age are slipping in the wrong direction. And I've been _feeling_ the result of this, the loss of sleep.

And I had this little thought sequence realiztion this morning... because I was like hmmm I want to be sleeping more, but I keep not prioritizing my sleep, I just need like 1 more hour per night... then I was like this sounds like the whole "I have a goal but I'm not moving towards it... and thus there's a competing commitment"... and I heard "competing commitment" and I was like ahhhh yeah I'm staying consistent with something like, [...] and maybe "and thus... pain." I feel like beliefs probably always end in... "and thus... pain." Related: [[202607190749 Immunity to Change by Kegan and Lahey]]

So Immunity to Change x-ray:
- Goal: prioritize my sleep more, go to be at the same time, 9pm, and thus wind down routine every night 8pm
- Behaviors: [...]
- Competing commitment: [..]
- Big assumption (belief): [...]
- The test: [...]

(just AI'd to help me, yeah this is much more accurate picture HAHAHAHA, wow this is useful)

Okay that's helpful.

What else is on the mind?

Been getting a hint of desire to change things up, go to Ubud or something, Nusa, different island. And the next thought is... [...]

Maybe already said this but the workshop definitely has some resistance towards it, think it's mainly the exposure fear, it's like a clear test of my value, and maybe linked to my worth... What if nobody shows up, what if I run it and people don't like it, what if nobody signs up... etc.

And I'm realizing that doing the [[202607220953 The Friction Reset|Friction Reset]] and these resistance tasks are not a one-time deal. I felt the resistance on the call with [name] and consciously decided no let's lean into it, do the workshop instead of the front door offer... but then it's _back_ because I'm realizing I should and can put a date out but instead I'm leaning more towards refining the workshop note because I just had AI put it together, it's not in my brain yet... so there's the uncertainty and feeling of not being ready. So that was a good realization. This is a continual process.

A content idea I just had regarding the "nothing's working..." Some of these concepts and ideas don't really change... I don't need to constantly generate new ideas. If a reel "didn't work" it was the first 3 seconds that didn't capture attention enough. Average watch time is like 5-7 seconds. So nobody actually heard the idea. I could literally just take the video body I ALREADY MADE and scripted, and just like record it with 5 different first lines and on-screen texts. And so the idea I just had was, why not just start re-using posts and videos? Don't make it more complicated. All that really needs to change is like two things: first 1-2 sentences, and on-screen text. Give yourself permission to talk about the same ideas again.

One of the things I used to do in my weekly reviews when I had all those reflection questions and stuff was going back through my content and picking out the best performing reels, hooks, on-screen text and putting it into [[202511300857 👨‍🔬 Content Lab - Hooks and Angles]]. I've just not been prioritizing all those questions and stuff, just doing quick weekly reviews. But one of the things that got me success was going back through my OWN videos based on lowest skip rate and re-creating those reels using the same hooks.

So here's an idea... if my content isn't working... and I have past content on MY OWN PROFILE that worked... why don't I just use those and test those this week. I've been passing in [[202601161032 🪝 Everything about Hooks]] and [[202604010950 🪝 Hook menu list for reels]] when I have AI outline/script ideas, but clearly it's not working.

There was that time when I recorded the 4 versions of [[202607041442 Post - Have you also noticed]] and EVERY SINGLE ONE got like 2.1k views, 2.2k views, etc.

This seems high ROI task. And some of it is already done and in my notes here. I'm gonna add a task today's tasks after weekly review. Let's do something like: Consolidate the top ~5 reels based on lowest skip rate into one note, transcribe, analyze. Then after running content mining, just have it use THESE reels as templates.

Okie dokie. What else? This feels like a valuable journal sesh so far.

Here's another friction point: So last night I was able to get through all my messages, IG, WhatsApp, and _almost_ all my emails. I have like 2 left that have things I kinda need to _do_ after reading them before making as read.

But my todolist has had like 4 things on it uncompleted for about a month, and that's been bugging me. I've been proud of prioritizing business work, coaching, content, messaging people, social events. I've not been watching much youtube at all, not been scrolling more than like _maybe_ 5-10 minutes once or twice a week while on the toilet or something like that.

So I've been prioritizing the high-leverage work, or maybe high to medium. But that means all the low-leverage admin stuff has just been piling up and piling up. I haven't done a finance update in 3 months, 3 months now! Haven't caught my budget up since mid June, mid June! And the $X collected was nice but now I'm back to zero calls, longer path to getting paid again. Realistically, maybe I could make some money by next week: run the workshop Saturday, schedule 3-4 calls from that early next week, close 1-2, make another $X (or more ;) )

I haven't done my weekly review yet, but just taking a look at my weekly note, I didn't almost _everything_ which I'm very proud of. The big things, approval for workshop, top of funnel reels, mid funnel reels, youtube video and reel promoting it, all that I did and crushed. Super proud and honestly a little unexpected. I'm usually used to _not_ getting everything done. Just didn't get time for updating a pinned post and more progress on the signalos workshop (but that wasn't properly scoped for the week so never wouldn't been considered "done")

So would love to be able to re-organize, reprioritize, clear some of that admin stuff out, because it's one of those things that adds to this perpetual "feeling behind" feeling. And so last night I was like okay, sunday, I want to chill, but then the next thought is, "but argh I need to finish my budget, finance update... admin shit..." and then the image goes from a morning and afternoon of chilling to... working more. Like I don't _really_ consider this working right now in this moment, but I've _physically_ done the same thing I've done every other work day this week: wake up, coffee, (today I sat down on the rooftop), sit down at laptop, and focus... I was thinking going to Nirvana this morning, still am. But it's like, my "rest" day Sunday _still has working_. And idk, do I not like that? Maybe the part I don't like is more of society's voice than mine "oh you need to not sit down at your laptop to be considered rest." But also I wonder how much this actually affects me. Last Saturday I went surfing in the morning (after working that morning) which was a nice break. I notice I have trouble doing _other things_ than working. This came up with [name], the resistance towards surfing, going on a trip, breaking the routine. And this is not a new issue... I made a [[202211100731 DailyV|DailyV]] back in Bali 2023 called like "how do you take breaks as a masculine man." So anyways... this is kind of an open loop I'm not sure how to close. Let's just keep working until something breaks, LOL.

What else?

Similar to the admin thread above, I've been having the _desire_ to spend more time reading, learning, going through [name]'s skool content videos... but I just haven't... seems like another Immunity Engine (X-ray) map I could make. It's like every time I get to the opportunity where I could read, which is like: dinner, evening wind down, Nirvana chilling... something _else_ takes priority... posting to instagram, scrolling stories on Instagram, replying to messages... and so I guess the question is partly along the "fear of loss" thread, but it's also like how much longer is pushing this off worth it? Hmmm that's not worded properly... It's like, choosing to reply to messages, post an instagram story is or feels marginally more roi positive than reading. Clear progress, fear of losing opportunities, letting people down, social validation (story views)... versus reading which is like, discomfort and zero upside, maybe I get an idea or insight, maybe not, and so this is also a bit of back to [[202607300918 🧍‍♂️ Everything about Human Motivation]] just biological dopamine reward systems... But kind of like my [[202607220952 The Escape Loop Map|Escape Loop Map]] process... there's short term reward/relief and a long term cost... My point in the question here is, what's the long-term cost? At what point does the long term cost _outweigh_ the micro-moment marginal benefit? That, I'm not sure.

But to this point... I'm like 50% of the way through [[202607190749 Immunity to Change by Kegan and Lahey]], not even done, and look at how much I've _used_ this directly in my content, my coaching, the [[202607220952 The Escape Loop Map|Escape Loop Map]] and Immunity Engine is _directly_ built from it. I've made like 4 reels mentioning it, and those have done well... So it's like bro, the reward on the other side of reading is valuable... imagine if you read more... imagine how much more valuable your coaching would be, how much more valuable your frameworks and structures and terms would be, which give YOU more confidence and give your clients better results, and how much more valuable your content would be because it's based on real studied concepts (though I would say my biggest bottleneck in content right now is not the body of the videos but the hooks)... All of that for the short term marginal reward/relief of staying "up to date" on IG stories and messages and not being able to downshift the brain from stimulation to reading...

Hmmmm.

Maybe it's also because while the concepts are super valuable from Immunity to Change, the particular chapters and pages I'm reading are not... they were talking about leadership in organizations, executives... not helpful or relevant. So I'm skipping a lot of pages.

What else?

Brain is slowing down a bit.

Anyyyyyyything else?

Been super loving this AI agent copilot in Obsidian, been building these content miners and they're super good. Just balancing building automations with actually _using_ it. I think I'm doing pretty well so far, not over optimizing. But also started realizing I maybe "burned" myself in the past over optimizing automations that I've been resistance to building anything... but look at the past 2 weeks, spending a couple hours building these content miners, but also building them step by step, using them, not making them perfect... and _how insanely valuable_ they've been.

Kind of feels like a prioritization problem. It's like, can we get all the high-leverage tasks/work done first.. get the reels and yt videos and workshop work done, then AFTER that, spend time on the admin, the automations, improving the actual business. Working ON the biz after working IN the biz. But I feel like the working IN the biz has been taking up all the time... Which is _maybe_ true, maybe somewhat not true because I did spend maybe ~2 hrs on the agents this week: improving and finishing the other miners and creating the ramble video miner yesterday. And those were super helpful and I actually _used_ them.

Another thought... I've almost lost my motivation to go on Hinge, Bumble, approach girls... And I was a little intrigued by why... [...]

[...]

Okay brain is getting tired. This was a good sesh, wow. Maybe head to Nirvana now? I'll take a break and then decide what's next.
